Nonpoint source (NPS) pollution from agriculture is the leading source of impairment to Survey Rivers and lakes. Pesticides are one of the major NPS pollutants that result from agricultural activities. Among those pesticides, is Bromoxynil (BRMX) which is a widely used herbicide. The present study was carried out to determine the capability of selected biological control agents to degrade BRMX at different incubation periods. Certification as a Rationale for Voluntary Agreements AgEcon
Gonzalez, Patrick.
I model the participation of firms in a voluntary agreement as a costly certification process whereby a firm informs the Regulator of its pollution intensity. Without this knowledge, the Regulator imposes the same tax on all firms in a heterogeneous industry, unduly hurting the clean ones with the lowest intensity. Certification allows clean firms to get a tax rebate. It also entails an informational externality as the dispersion of types decreases within the pool of non-participating firms, following an unraveling process. Because participation is a firm’s private decision, there is such a thing as a bad voluntary agreement.

Products were emulsifiers, agglomerants or precipitants and were tested against oil from Edjele, Kuwait and Syria. For each kind of product, a review is given of the previous tests, the choice of methods is discussed, the methodology is described, and results are presented and interpreted. In addition, the relationship between physical properties and effectiveness is discussed, with graphical examples and the advantages and disadvantages are indicated. Toxicity of seven emulsifying agents for treating oil spills (ISTPM designation E sub(22), E sub(30), E sub(41), E sub(46), E sub(47), E sub(52) and E sub(53)) was determined using eight marine species (three gastropods, one bivalve, two crustacean and one fish). It is presented an analysis of several indicators of water quality in Santiago de Cuba bay and of the bacteriological state in five of its beaches. Samples were taken in surface and 8 m deep. A low transparency of the waters was detected, associated with high levels of ammonium, total phosphorus and chlorophyll. Coprostanol levels and organic enrichment in sediments of the Bilbao estuary (north of Spain) ArchiMer

An assessment was made of the distribution of the faecal sterol coprostanol (COP) in sediments in the Bilbao estuary. Concentrations of COP ranged from 135.15 to 10.77 mu g g(-1) dry weight, from the inner to the open estuary, with a mean value of 51.43 mu g g(-1); the highest concentrations were found near the mouths of several tributaries flowing into the estuary. Comparisons with ether published values indicate that sediments from the Bilbao estuary are affected by sewage pollution in a similar degree to that reported for other estuaries in the world.
